Turn are Ollie Cole, Ian Melady and Gavin Fox. Three well dressed gents with a canny knack for a good tune and rousing music with a previous back catalogue of stunning live performances. The release of "In Position" on March 1st 2002 sees Turn returning to the record shelves for the first time since their debut album release "Anti-Social" in October 2000. This album saw the band enhance their growing reputation as ones to watch in both the Irish and English music bibles. "In Position" is a collection of 6 songs ranging from raw-edged rock to inspired melancholia. Recorded over the last few months in various studios these songs begin a new chapter in the ongoing novel that is the story of Turn. This mini-album shall be followed by a full second album in the summer of 2002.
Having been signed by the Mushroom group in 1999 the band proceeded to release three limited edition 7" singles in the first months of 2000. The three songs, "Beretta", "Facedown', and "Beeswax' were critically acclaimed on both sides of the water (Reviews below). These three songs with their b-sides were also released as the "Check My Ears" mini-album in the summer of 2000. Around this time Turn embarked on their first major UK tour with Seafood and Wilt which proved to be a major success and finally established the band as a three piece tour de force. Appearances at the Leeds and Reading festivals were also major musical highlights for the band.
October 2000 finally saw the release of the bands full debut long-player titled "Anti-Social". Recorded at the much vaunted Rockfield Studios in Wales the album is possibly best captured by one English journalist who described it as a "sweeping, strident gem of a debut album which mixes the cathartic bombast of Nirvana and Ollie's beloved Pixies with the classic song writing of the likes of Elliot Smith and Neil Young." To support the release of the album the band again hit the highways and byways of Ireland and the UK culminating in their biggest shows to date with a 16-date slot supporting the brilliant Scottish rockers, Idlewild. This tour saw the band play such prestigious venues like Glasgow's Barrowlands as well as London's Shepherds Bush Empire.
2001 saw the band on tour again, but not to the same extent as the previous year as time out was taken to produce some new songs for the upcoming releases. However, the band came out of exile for some high profile US shows as well as a critically acclaimed appearance at Witnness where they were one of an elite group of bands asked to play Witnness for a second year in a row.
2002 shall see the band return to a hectic schedule of gigging and promotion in support of "In Position". Following their recent sell-out shows, Turn return to the Temple Bar Music Centre to launch the mini-album on Thursday February 28th to be followed with an upcoming Irish tour in March/April. February also sees the band return to the US for a short stint and some UK gigs shall be announced shortly.

"side-stepping every rock cliche and fulfilling every rock dream, destined to fill stadiums" - Melody Maker
"Turn are without doubt, Irelands new kings of cool" - Hot Press
"Its just a matter of time, this band get better and better" - NME
SINGLE REVIEWS
"Beretta" - Hot Press review, March 2000
"A destructive, helpless rage of a song - lean, nervy and as keen as an inexpertly-wielded knife and the double A side's more of the same. Destined for great things, whether the music industry thinks so or not."
"Beretta" - NME review, April 2000
"Beretta is a lash of angry, biting sentiment that beats its chest with a tumult of white-knuckle guitars and furious drumming."
"Beeswax" - Kerrang review, May 2000
"Quite capable of whipping themselves up into a dark, layered rumble, Turn are a tasty prospect. Here, angular guitars and heartfelt melodies collide like an indie band tackling nu-metal, all of which suggest that they're shaping up to be something rather special."
"Facedown" - Hot Press review, March 2000
"Turn serve up the grower of the fortnight, a broody slow-burner that rumbles along like the Pixies on ketamine until kicking off with lots of ace drum pounding, straight out of the glory days of quality dark pop, the flip-side "Truth" does exactly what it says on the tin - heart-stirring honesty in a delicately twisted serving of barbed-wire beauty."
ALBUM REVIEWS
"Antisocial" - Part of Hot Press review. October 2000
"Right from the opening ode to sexual frustration that is "Too much make-up", the drums are taut and edgy, the guitars fire staccato bursts of razor-sharp hooks, the bass rumbles along menacingly, and Ollie Cole proves himself one of the country's most under-rated vocalists. The real highlight, though, is the magnificent title track. To many ears, Anti-social will sound a more multifaceted and mature debut than a lot of people would have expected from Turn, but they have more than delivered on the promise of their live show."
Rating: 10/12
"Antisocial" - Part of Cluas.com review. November 2000
"Overall, Antisocial hints at a very, very bright future for Turn. They can still, to quote Ollie Cole on stage at Witnness, "rock like a motherf*****r, but the maturity that's on display in spades with Antisocial suggests that things are blooming in Irish rock. Recommended."
